Room 406, Thursday evening

The door's open, but there's a whiteboard propped on a box in the hallway next to it that says,

"Last night in 406 before I move down to the first floor. Wander in if you want, unless you're a vampire. There's foodity. ~Xander (the one without the accent)"

Inside, Xander's desktop is pretty much empty of everything but a selection of snacks and drinks. Xander's side of the room is pretty close to empty, and on the wall where his posters used to be, a multilingual robot doggie is projecting a marathon of The Real World: Springfield.

Xander's bed is shoved up against one wall, pillows thrown around to make it couchlike for sitting thereupon. As you do.

Inside, you'd find Xander, Isabel, and Bridge hanging out. And RIC, of course.

"Hey, Z!" Bridge waves, catching sight of her.

"Hi, Bridge," Z said with a little wave. "I brought cookies." Bribery, she's found, tends to work up to a point.

"Well, if you have *cookies*..." Bridge grins. "Come on in. We're watching, um, reality TV?" he says with a shrug. "I'm not sure I get it."

"Reality TV? Why would you want TV to be real?"

"See, that's what I said!"

"I don't watch a lot of TV, but I thought the whole point was that it was fake." Z came into the room and offered him her pack of cookies. Ah, friendship offerings.

"Thanks, dude." Bridge grins, taking a cookie. "Yeah, exactly. If I want reality, I'll go... hang out in the common room or something."

"And read the SPD Handbook. Or something."

"Exactly." Bridge laughs.

"Which I have actually been doing, but then I'm kind of a loser."

"That doesn't make you a loser, I think. I did the same thing back when I first joined. So did Sky. Of course, Sky *still* reads the handbook, despite having already memorised it."

"Who's Sky? Is she here, too?"

"Sky's... a teammate of mine, on C-Squad. And he's a he. But not here, he's at the Nebula Academy."

"Oh, maybe I'll get to meet him sometime. C-Squad? What's that?"

"It's possible," Bridge says. "And C-Squad is like... okay, there's like, D-Level and C-Level and B-Level and A-Level? But there's also D-Squad and C-Squad and B-Squad and A-Squad."

"And they're all different?"

"Well, yeah," Bridge shrugs. "You've gotta be at least C-Level before you can make a Squad."

"I don't know what that means. Or what my Level is. Is that bad?"

"Probably?" Bridge says. "Cruger didn't tell you?"

"Not really. He didn't do a lot of explaining."

Bridge tries not to laugh.

"That... sounds like him, yeah."

"Yeah...I mean, he seems very nice and I'm very grateful for this opportunity and I'm not complaining, really and yeah. I'll shut up now."
