The kind on real paper.
Dear Willow:
Hello Muddha, hello Faddah... Greetings from camp. People are getting signals out here, but they've got newer wireless cards; happens when you're six years behind the times. Not actually sure if this will make it across to you; never tried it before, since by the time you figured out where everybody was, we were all technimigated, but eh. I'll probably go up to the school today to check e-mail anyhow, so I can send a copy that way too. Just thought you might get a kick out of the old-fashioned kind with real smiley-faces on it for once.
I'm in a cabin with Callisto (Angel's ex, yeah) and Veronica and the other grads who stayed, which is cool. Not so cool is Bridge being in another building entirely, but at least it's not too far away, and his best buds are the roomies on his end of it.
I taught my first Scoobying workshop on Tuesday. That was...neat. Not that I'm saying that out loud much because I don't want to jinx it, but I think people had fun, and they actually listened to what I was saying, like words coming out of my mouth had a point besides reminding people I'm awake. Bridge is in it and so is Cordy, the version here that fell out of the ceiling. Also there's[scribbled-out inkblotch] a lot of new faces along with people I know. It's a little weird to be all teacherly with people I was in classes with, though - not sure how well I can get used to that.
I bribed them with doughnuts disguised as an assignment, because I am a smarty every day. Which seemed to go over well, judging from the number of people who were still chowing
down later at the campfire. (BTW if you and Parker exchanged e-mail addresses, believe nothing she says about fur-lined anything. ) Speaking of you, except not, somebody sneaked into my class and left a PBJwich for me. Who writes 'hi' in little hearts. I wonder who that could've been?
I hung out with my bunkmates (not dirty) on Wednesday, and coincimidentally, as you do, Bridge came by. With a telekinesis ball, which was just weird - I made something float. No magic involved that I know of, just weird future technology. And then I went to bed. Alone. As you do when there's no door your room. Not that I'd be doing anything thwartworthy even if there was.
Because that would be wrong.
Isabel's in another cabin too, so I stopped by their campfire last night. Met a guy named Tyler whose keen awareness of my Jamaican accent marks him as a comic talent to keep an eye on. Plus Tim, Dawn-the-alterna-Scooby, and - contain your shock - Bridge. And Alanna accidentally pointed something out to me - did you realize we haven't had a summer vacation since the one after junior year? Which wasn't exactly a vacation what with Buffy missing and us having to cover vampire patrol.
I should head into town to mail this; was gonna start making the best of my first vacation in two years and get some more sleep, but from the noise outside it sounds like I wouldn't be able to anyway.
Jeremiah says hi! Except not really because I realize around here that needs to be specified. He just says ribbit. Which if I try to extrapolate from the tiny bit of Newt I remember, means... I have absolutely no idea. Probably feed me; that's what it usually means.
love,
Xander
P.S. [In shaky printing, with a pencil, as if somebody's got his foot propped on a log and is balancing the paper on his knee while laughing really hard...]
Ahahahahahahahaha hair. I love today.
