soldtoarmenians | Thursday, Room 121, all day (general goodbye post)

Xander's already ~~handwavily~~ sent out e-mails letting people know his new cellphone number if they didn't have it already, and his UC Sunnydale e-mail address, and... when he's leaving. Which he finally has to say 'tomorrow morning' about instead of 'Friday' because they're one and the same.

Now... he's still packing. Posters, folders, last-minute items and just stuff he wanted to leave up for as long as possible to make the room acknowledge that for now, he still lives here. Every so often he and Bridge are taking a break to look at pictures or watch a dvd, because at this point he's on the flipside of where he was yesterday: if he packs too fast, the room'll be empty, and Xander can't quite take that, not yet.

You can't really say Jeremiah's taking a break; he'd have to have been working in the first place for that to be true. He's just going back and forth between supervising the packing and supervising the loafing.

The door is open. Xander's yearbook is on the desk next to Jeremiah, for anyone who feels like signing it.

After getting things settled in the stables, it wasn't much of a trip to come see Xander.

"Hi, Will." Xander pointed to the spread of sugary non-homemade baked goods. "There's starchy-goodness if you want some."

"Thanks," Willow said. She helped herself to a donut. "I ended up missing breakfast and lunch."

Xander frowned. "How come?"

"My boyfriend turned into a pony," Willow said, in that matter of fact way Sunnydale folk had about these developments.

Xander cocked his head. "I...shouldn't ask how inconvenient the timing was, should I."

"Post-smoochies," Willow assured him. "We were going to head to breakfast and then - poof! Pony."

"So at least he can still enjoy the oatmeal?" Xander asked.

"Good point," Willow said. "Ooo! I could put apples in it too. Do you think horsies like cinnamon?"

"From my vast ranching experience back in Sunnydale, I'd have to say...absolutely no idea." Xander spread his fingers apologetically.

"I'll research," Willow decided. "So how's the packing going? Do you have enough school supplies?"

"I promised other-you I'd wait til I got home for that, so she could take me shopping," Xander told her. "I fear the sound of joy I heard in her voice, because it gives me a window into noises I should never, never know you can make."

"I guess her getting to do it is fair," Willow said, but she was pouting.

Xander looked around like his Willow could hear him. Which, for all he knew, she could, because Willows are wily that way. "I promise I won't tell her if you slip me some pencils before I leave. It'll be our secret."

Willow totally hadn't come prepared for this with a pack of new pencils. "Shhh. We'll never tell!"

Xander put his finger to his lips and slipped the pencils into a side-pocket of one of his suitcases.

"So have you figured out what turned Peter into a pony, or are we still at *poof*?"

"The current theory is Fandom Fandoming," Willow said. "Though as you can imagine the were question was my first guess."

"Werepony?" Xander scratched his head. "It just doesn't have the same terrifying ring to it as when there's a growly, bitey animal after the 'were'."

"He's really cute and cuddly," Willow said. She held her hand out to indicate how small he was. "This big, and he's all soft and fuzzy like a teddybear. Also? Portable."

"Portable's good. Not that this place can't handle an actual full-sized horse wandering the halls too. And oddly? Seeing Pippi riding him up the stairs the first time I met them? Not the weirdest thing that happened to me that day."

"Once he's better I think Peter will be happy to know that having horses is an option," Willow said. "I know he misses his one back home."

"Yeah, they're not so much a traffic problem on an island this size as cars are," Xander said. "Also I was about to say can we take a moment to contemplate that you're dating somebody who has a horse when I realized at one point I did too. Not that I actually met said horse, but I was assured he existed and was named after that guy who starred in The Grid."

Babbling almost on a Bridge-or-Willow level in order to avoid saying one. more. Meaningful. Thing. at the moment? Why yes, yes he was.

"Not only has a horse but is a knight," Willow said, wishing retroactively that she could've asked Peter if it was okay to tell Xander about the king thing since Xander was leaving anyway. "That brings up whole issues of chivalry and castle-living that can be a lot of pressure for a girl. Though Peter's pretty nice about it."

Xander glanced at her hair, comparing it in his head with his home-Willow's newer cut. "Are you gonna try the Rapunzel thing just in case he ever needs to rescue you from a tower? Or just invest in a nice sturdy rope-ladder?"

"A rope-ladder's more according to code," Willow pointed out.
