soldtoarmenians | Thursday, Room 121, all day (general goodbye post)

Xander's already ~~handwavily~~ sent out e-mails letting people know his new cellphone number if they didn't have it already, and his UC Sunnydale e-mail address, and... when he's leaving. Which he finally has to say 'tomorrow morning' about instead of 'Friday' because they're one and the same.

Now... he's still packing. Posters, folders, last-minute items and just stuff he wanted to leave up for as long as possible to make the room acknowledge that for now, he still lives here. Every so often he and Bridge are taking a break to look at pictures or watch a dvd, because at this point he's on the flipside of where he was yesterday: if he packs too fast, the room'll be empty, and Xander can't quite take that, not yet.

You can't really say Jeremiah's taking a break; he'd have to have been working in the first place for that to be true. He's just going back and forth between supervising the packing and supervising the loafing.

The door is open. Xander's yearbook is on the desk next to Jeremiah, for anyone who feels like signing it.

Anders stopped by after saying goodbye to Chloe and looking a lot more reluctant about this visit considering it carried certain BFF-in-law weight that . . . yeah, made him tear up.

Xander smiled when he realized it was Anders at the door. "Hey."

"Got your email, man," Anders said with a crooked grin. "Very . . . educational, and I haven't even finished yet."

He tried (and failed) to surreptitiously flick a tear away, then blew out a long breath. "Frak, man, I hate all these goodbyes."

Xander coughed at the mention of said e-mail, and the beginning of a grin formed before Anders' second sentence registered.

"Yeah, not my favorite leisure activity either," he understated, the smile fading a bit.

"Don't blame you. Hate 'em myself," Anders muttered, blinking hard. "Gonna miss you, Harris. You've been good to Bridge --" he swallowed -- "and to Cally. Which . . . I appreciate that."

Xander shot a smile towards Bridge, then frowned slightly and moved out into the hallway, beckoning Anders to come after him.

Anders raised an eyebrow, but followed Xander anyway, anticipating a necessary, if emo-inducing, formal charge of Looking After Bridge or something like that. "What's up?"

Xander jerked a thumb back into the room towards Bridge, and lowered his voice. "Not gonna ask you to make sure he's okay 'cause I know you will, but could you maybe find something to cheer him up tomorrow? Distract him a little?"

"I'd be a crappy best friend if I didn't," Anders said, "especially since he did it for me. Absolutely. There will be Bridge-cheering."

He wondered who was going to be taking care of cheer-up duties for Xander, but much to his chagrin that stupid lump in his throat was starting to make verbalizations a bit difficult. All he managed was, "How 'bout you?"

Xander smiled. "I've got a Willow for every dimension. And a Buffy at home too." He leaned against the wall. "Plus I think I have to go do dorm and book and class stuff almost the minute I get back. Which maybe not so much with the fun, but distracting, yes."

Anders nodded and smiled hesitantly. "I don't really know Buffy that well, but if your Willow is as awesome as the one here you're in good hands. I'll try and do the best I can for Bridge, promise."

Xander nodded, then studied him for a moment before asking, "Manly backslapping hug or soppy 'dude, we both date guys, so who the hell are we kidding' hug?

Anders laughed. "Who the hell are we kidding?" he said by way of an answer.

"Actually," Bridge says, having wandered over to the open doorway just in time to catch the tail end of the conversation. "I have an idea..."

"And I want to hear it," Xander says. "Even if there's a small amount of fear attached to that."

"Well," Bridge says. "You've mentioned more than once how you've kissed Cally, and how you've kissed *me*, but not Anders. I think you should fix that."

Anders coughed. "You did suggest it in my yearbook, Harris."

Xander coughs and looks a bit nervously at Bridge. "More than once being defined as 'twice, and one of those was the me telling you about the yearbook?'"

"Please?" Bridge asks, giving Xander his best wide-eyed look.

"You sure you don't mind?" Xander actually is a little iffy on the concept when he's not just joking about it. "Kissing best friends has been not exactly the smartest thing I could do, historically speaking. And okay it was my best friend, but..."

"I'm sure," Bridge smiles a little. "Completing the set and all that."

"You did say something about a grand slam," Anders points out ~~suddenly jumping tenses for consistency's sake, woo~~.

"I guess if I'm making out with somebody else for my boyfriend's amusement it's not exactly cheating," Xander says ~~having given in on the tense issue oh so long ago~~.

"And we don't want Bridge to go all pouty on us," Anders agrees. "Plus you're pretty easy on the eyes, Harris, so why not?"

"Because hitting the ABC-DC grand slam might unlock some secret cosmic rift and dest--OKAY STOP GIVING ME THAT LOOK." Xander sticks his tongue out at Bridge, then takes a deep breath and plants one on Anders. ...without the tongue.
