Room 406, Thursday evening

The door's open, but there's a whiteboard propped on a box in the hallway next to it that says,

"Last night in 406 before I move down to the first floor. Wander in if you want, unless you're a vampire. There's foodity. ~Xander (the one without the accent)"

Inside, Xander's desktop is pretty much empty of everything but a selection of snacks and drinks. Xander's side of the room is pretty close to empty, and on the wall where his posters used to be, a multilingual robot doggie is projecting a marathon of The Real World: Springfield.

Xander's bed is shoved up against one wall, pillows thrown around to make it couchlike for sitting thereupon. As you do.

Inside, you'd find Xander, Isabel, and Bridge hanging out. And RIC, of course.

"Isabel Evans, nice to meet you." She looked back and forth between Z's uniform and Bridge's. "Is there a new dress code?"

"Oh, right, Angela mentioned you. No, we're just both cadets." Z tugged kind of nervously at her uniform jacket. She's still not used to it.

"She did? Something good I hope," she said. "Good, I don't think I could handle a uniform all the time. It's just not me."

"She said you're an alien?" Z looked down at her clothes. "I don't think I can, either. I'll be wearing normal clothes part-time, I think--as long as no one rats me out to SPD--but...this was clean."

"I am. Hopefully that's not to freaky for you," Isabel said. "You're required to wear it at all times? Of course I should have realized that since I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen Bridge out of uniform."

"No, it's not freaky--there are kind of a lot of aliens back home. I think I am? I'm not sure. I'm kinda new at this whole thing."

"Really? Ever meet anyone from a planet called Antar?" Isabel asked. The odds that Z had were astronomical. But you never know. "Did you only just sign up?"

"Eltar?" Z asked, wondering if she'd misheard. "Yeah, I was kind of...recruited. It all happened very fast."

"Antar, with an A. Or at least that's what we've been told," Isabel said. "The crash pretty much screwed things up for us and we've been on our own. Recruited and sent to Fandom? Well I suppose it could be worse, they could have sent you to Marine boot camp or something."

"No, I'm sorry, I don't think I've heard of Antar, but I kind of suck at astronomy. I can about find Eltar and Aquitar's suns on a starchart. You're right, it could definitely have been worse," she said, thinking of Jack.

"I'm getting the impression it's the planatery equivalent to a small town in middle of no where. No one seems to have heard of it," she said, deliberately not thinking about the information she'd found in Special Collections. "You should have fun here. It's insane. But mostly it's the fun kind of insanity."

"If I find anything about it, I'll let you know? Yeah, it seems like there are all sorts of people here, which is...really great."
